Wedgewood Virtual Lip Sync Battle with Song Division

We had White Stripes and Simple Minds, German beer songs and Macarena moves. The Spice Girls told us what they really really wanted (which of course was to win) we had music trivia and even wrote our Wedgewood anthem.

Huge thanks to our friends at Song Division for a rocking event and for sharing this fabulous montage

MICE TIME Continuum

We are a pretty social bunch in the Events Industry so it’s been tough all round not seeing our colleagues, our partners, our suppliers and of course our clients.

We’d normally meet up at exhibitions, shows and sales trips throughout the year, catch up on news from our destinations, talk about new projects and perhaps enjoy a glass or two of fizz! Whilst many of our destinations are now opening up, not all of us can travel yet so we thought, if we can’t meet in person then we can at least meet virtually and thus the Wedgewood MICE/TIME Continuum was born.

Over two days eleven Wedgewood offices had one-to-one meetings with valued partners from South America, the USA, Africa, Europe and Asia. It was a great opportunity to catch up with old friends and meet some new faces too.

Each day culminated in an entertainment event with “Wedgewood’s Got Talent” on Day 1 and a fabulous “Lip Sync Battle” in cooperation with Song Division on Day 2. These were both great interactive experiences and let’s just say we saw a whole new side to some of our colleagues! Who knew we had such musical talent in our midst? Well done to all the brave performers and special congratulations to the Rus Spice Girls!

Whilst nothing can beat seeing each other in person we were really happy with our first Virtual event and whether we are online or on the spot we hope we’ve shown that nothing (not even a pandemic) can stop our innovation and creativity.

Staying connected

Like most of you, the Wedgewood team have been missing out on meeting with colleagues and friends. It’s particularly challenging when we are spread around the globe and all living in different time zones. But we have none of us been idle during the lockdown period and are all bursting with new ideas on how to connect with our partners, new activities both virtual and hybrid and new ways of ensuring our guests’s safety in the post-Covid world.

Last week saw the first Wedgewood DMC Group virtual meeting, gathering together 20 members of the Wedgewood team from Japan to Argentina! It was a great opportunity to catch up on news from our destinations and exchange ideas. Of particular interest was our Group project to collate information from local authorities and talk to hotels and other suppliers about new protocols for when we start to welcome back guests. Many of our destinations are getting ready to open up in the summer or later this year, so stay in touch to follow our news in the days and weeks ahead. In the meantime, have a look at the photo of our recent meeting and see if you recognize any familiar faces (excuse the “lockdown hair”)!

Everyone should take the time for a coffee

We live in a busy world, it’s all about coffee to go, lunch at our desks and constant time pressures. If this lockdown has taught us anything it is that life can be lived at a slower pace and, when we do slow down we have time to appreciate the small things we usually take for granted.

The Greeks have been saying this for centuries! No matter how busy they are, there is always time for a break, a chat and of course a coffee! With that in mind, Klea from Wedgewood Greece, her islands and Cyprus shows us how to make the perfect Greek coffee. It’s all about patience, timing and is best enjoyed with friends!

DIY Oktoberfest

We always knew that our colleagues were super inventive and always willing to go that extra mile, but this week’s award for creativity and dedication must go to Matthias from Wedgewood Germany.

Normally this time of year would see the start of the festival season which of course culminates in the world-famous Oktoberfest at the end of summer. This year, things are a little different but we wouldn’t want you to miss out. There is beer, there are sausages aplenty, there is singing and yes, those are lederhosen you see!

Thank you for the inspiration Matthias. Who said the Germans don’t have a sense of humour?

Prost!

Super healthy fruit cocktail

Our Wedgewood colleagues around the world continue to show their creativity and inventiveness. In today’s video, filmed on her balcony in Cannes, Valérie from Wedgewood France shares her recipe for a fruit cocktail. Full of colour, flavour and vitamins, this is a great way to boost the immune system.

Santé!

Great British Crumble

Ilenja from the Franco- Italian department of Wedgewood Britain, shows her appreciation of British cuisine by making a classic fruit crumble.

Guaranteed to cheer up the dullest of days, this is comfort food at its very best.

Buon appetito!

It’s “Pimms o’ clock”

It’s not just our events that have been postponed for now. Many iconic dates in the British social calendar such as Goodwood and Wimbledon have also been cancelled this year.

To keep our spirits up and to give you the chance to enjoy the taste of the best of the British summer in your own home, Jerry from Wedgewood Britain presents a Pimms masterclass. Cheers!
